Background: |
 |
The Automotive industry uses many different sensors to validate the static and dynamic performance of cars and trucks, motorcycles, and commercial vehicles. Typical measurements include vibration, orientation, linear velocity, acceleration and angular rate (dynamic stability), and roll and pitch.
Crossbow offers a complete range of inertial sensors and inertial reference systems designed for the needs of automobile testing and qualification. The high precision triad of Fiber Optic Gyros and MEMS accelerometers, and highly integrated Inertial Systems combine 6DOF MEMS inertial sensors and GPS capabilities to provide measurement of full dynamic motion including position and velocity. These inertial measurement units are designed to allow automobile manufacturers and their partners to fully measure and analyze a vehicle dynamic response. |
Benefits to Customer: |
 |
1. |
Complete Measurement of Vehicle Dynamics-High performance fiber-optic gyros combined with the latest in silicon micro-machined (MEMS) accelerometer technology provide a highly accurate dual function Vertical Gyro (VG) and Inertial Measurement Unit.
|
| 2. |
Angle, Rate and Acceleration Data –The fiber optic gyros are is available in two configurations: earth coordinates or body coordinates. The earth coordinate provides roll and pitch angle; roll, pitch and yaw angular rate; and X,Y, Z tangential acceleration in accordance with SAE Navigation Frame definition. The body coordinate roll and pitch angle; roll, pitch and yaw angular rate; and X, Y, Z body-axis acceleration.

| 3 |
Position and Velocity Data Option –The Inertial Systems provide GPS-Aided position and velocity data at up to 100 Hz. Inertial velocity data offers improved measurement stability and reduces the latency associated with stand-alone GPS velocity measurements.

| 4. |
Compatible with 12V or 24V Systems– Automotive Compatible 10-30 VDC Input Supply
