The eKo system is a fully-integrated, self-contained solution for outdoor wireless sensing. The small hand-sized device presents a single package that includes a powerful mesh radio, a miniaturized solar panel eliminating the need for external power, a scalable set-up and a rugged and weatherproof exterior that is easily installed and deployed. The system provides all the necessary components and does not require any additional maintenance or annual fees.
The wireless mesh communication utilized by the system enables users to create a large distributed sensor network that provides a granular level of detail about their environment. Messages are relayed between the nodes and back the to base station in real-time so that immediate decisions and measures can be taken depending on the specific deployment. The system does not require any cellular or satellite fees. Once turned on, the nodes will automatically create a self-forming and self-healing mesh network ensuring high reliability and ensuring greater coverage.
The ease of integrating sensors with the eKo system is accomplished via its open and flexible Environmental Sensor Bus®. The ESB offers users the ability to attach virtually any sensor to the eKo system making it wireless and enabling its ability to do remote sensing. Analogous to the simplicity of interfacing a USB device to a computer, eKo’s ESB interface offers users the tools to quickly and easily connect a sensor device that meets their specific application requirements with the eKo system and begin collecting data.
There is no software installation necessary with the eKo system or learning curve associated with a new interface. eKo provides users with a web-based application in eKoView that allows immediate access to the system and the ability to view data via a simple internet browser. Intuitive and accessible, users are not tied down to a specific machine with installed software, but can access their system anytime from anywhere. With easy to use charts and graphs, alerts, topology views, network health diagnostics, etc. users own and control their own data.
