The Crossbow eKo System consists of Nodes, Sensors, Base radio and Gateway. The sensors are connected to the Nodes. Nodes read this sensor data and wirelessly transmit it to the base radio. All nodes can originate sensor data and also forward data from other nodes. The data sent from all nodes is received at the base radio and is forwarded to the gateway. The gateway then stores and forwards (optional) data from the sensor network and makes it accessible via a simple web GUI interface

All the tools necessary to set up a basic network are included in the starter kit. The eKo Nodes along with your base, gateway and web application provide the foundation to instrument your environment for remote data collection. A selection of sensors are included to get you started, but users may add additional sensors to customize the system to meet your exact parameters whether it be weather, soil moisture, leaf wetness, etc.
