Applications: Unmanned Systems
Unmanned Systems
Unmanned systems and sensor payloads require high reliable and
repeatable inertial sensors for effective feedback for navigation,
guidance and control. Crossbow has developed a broad line of
military qualified Fiber Optic Gyroscopes (FOG), inertial
measurement units (IMU), and GPS-Aided Attitude & Heading
Reference Systems (AHRS) that are well tested and proven in
demanding land, marine and airborne applications.
Unmanned Vehicle Applications
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) Crossbow's
VG700MB inertial system
provides roll, pitch and heading information for guidance and
control functions in the Guidance and Avionics Systems of UAV’s
produced by leading manufactures around the world.
.
Unmanned Ground Vehicles
(UGV) Crossbow GNAV
540 and VG700MB
Vertical Gyro can be used on unmanned ground platforms to provide
continuous orientation, position and heading information specially
designed for the high dynamic and aggressive maneuvers.Â
Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV). Â
Crossbow’s low-cost and high reliable NAV440 have been a standard in
US Navy tests activities at NRL, NUWC and NSWC and UUV’s for
deep sea missions and harbor security.
Payload
SAR, GPSAR, LIDAR Payloads Crossbow has
supplied VG700MB and NAV440 systems to small and
large prime contractors engaged in systems development of
Synthetic Aperture Radar, Ground Penetrating SAR, and LIDAR for a
the US DOD and Allied Nations programs. Crossbow's inertial
technology improves the overall data quality and allows
warfighters to make better decisions based on improved and
actionable intelligence.
EO/IR Payloads Crossbow supplies NAV440 and CXTD02 digital inclinometers
for platform stabilization on Electro-Optical and Infrared sensor
platforms to DOD and international customers. Our systems reduce
system complexity and improve system up-time with MTBF of
>35,000 and no periodic
maintenance.
GIS/Mapping Crossbow NAV440 systems are used to add
“inertial intelligence” such as accurate GPS, Pitch, Roll, and
Heading data that are enabling a new generation of UAV mounted
camera systems.Â

Benefits to Customers:
- Field Proven in UAV, UGV and AUV Applications-
Crossbow’s inertial systems are
currently fielded on multiple major DOD and International
military platforms including over 185,000 flights hours onboard
UAVs and 4,000 ground and marine battlefield systems.
- High Reliability – Crossbow products
achieve greater than 35,000 MTBF.
- Mil Qualified --- All products are tested to
standards such as MIL STD-810, MIL-STD-704 and
MIL-STD-461.
- Low-Cost – Many systems are under $9K
USD.  Since 1999, Crossbow has lead the competition
with the VG700 series offering the lowest cost 6DOF
military qualified Fiber Optic Gyroscope available from any
source.
