Knowledge Base
What is the battery life?
Battery life can be from 9 to 45 days. The actual performance is
determined by how you want the Geo II device configured for
reporting. Some clients want an update every 15 minutes, which will
drain the battery at a faster rate than having an update once or
twice a day.
How is the information captured
and reported by the device sent to me?
The information is sent using mobile phone technology from the
device to a computer server in the cloud. Any device with
internet connectivity can then be used to access the device.
The internet server can also be used to set up alerts by e-mail or
text message, so that information is only reported on an exceptions
basis.
How reliable is GPS?
GPS is a very reliable technology. However, environmental
conditions, such as: structures (building or overpasses), close
proximity to metal, device is under other dense items and so can
impact the device from being able to acquire and transmit via GPS.
This is why the Geo II comes standard with both GPS and cellular
capabilities. If a GPS signal is blocked you can still receive
sensor and location information in near real-time.
How accurate is cellular or
Location Based Systems (LBS)?
The accuracy can range from a few meters to two thousand meters.
In urban areas there is a higher concentration of cell towers which
impact location accuracy. In rural areas, where cell towers are less
abundant the location accuracy is less.
How will the Geo II know when
my package or container has been opened?
The Geo II comes standard with a sensor array. These
environmental sensors detect: location, temperature, humidity,
light, motion, tilt/shock and atmospheric pressure. Utilizing your
application of choice you can insert business rules to establish
exception notification alerts and change in status notifications and
maintain a constant surveillance of your shipment or asset. Reduce
shipment tampering with in-transit GPS tracking, cold chain, supply
chain solutions. Also, increase theft detection, maintain chain of
custody, establish asset location capability and asset visibility
for high value assets.
