The European Parliament passed the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive to "protect human health and the environment by restricting the use of certain hazardous substances in new equipment".

Crossbow Technology is committed to preserving the environment and creating products that are no threat to human health and are in compliance with, but no only limited to, the RoHS directive. Under the scope of the RoHS directive Medical Devices, Category 8 and Monitoring and Control Instruments, Category 9 are excluded from the RoHS directive. Crossbow Technology鈥檚 inertial and wireless products are used for monitoring and control and fall under Category 9. Our products are hence outside of the directive's direct scope. However, Crossbow Technology recognizes that eliminating hazardous substances from our products is beneficial not only to the environment but also to Crossbow Technology customers and employees. We are actively working towards producing RoHS compliant products.

In our continuing efforts to achieve RoHS compliance for our products, the Crossbow Technology RoHS Compliance Team has formed partnerships with our suppliers to ensure their compliance with the RoHS directive. Additionally, our manufacturing and engineering teams are working to adapt products to use RoHS compliant components and manufacturing processes. We have begun production of new products that are RoHS compliant in early 2006.

For more information, contact the Crossbow Technology RoHS Compliance Team at RoHS@xbow.com. Crossbow Technology products are used in various applications that may affect customer requirements for RoHS compliance. In most instances, our customers do not require RoHS compliant products, including customers using our products for production of their end products, as well as customers who embed our product in an end product that is classified as either Category 8 or Category 9.

A Crossbow Technology product requires RoHS compliance only if a customer sells an end product that falls within the RoHS directive's scope. We actively work with these customers to ensure we meet their needs.

Leading the revolution to connect the physical world with the digital world through wireless sensor networks, the Crossbow Solutions blog highlights innovative and exciting ways customers are using this technology.
